Joerg Nicht

I’m a photographer working in the fields of architecture, travel and street photography for commercial projects and private commissions.

On every trip, I try to find the time to work on some personal projects. I am interested in public transport and therefore I like to take pictures of subway stations.

Before I became a professional photographer, I worked as a social scientist. I understand many of my recordings as field notes and observations of the everyday. For this series I explored some metro stations in Moscow.

I prefer to use small camera gear in order to travel with little luggage.

  • Lumix G9
  • Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0
  • Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4
  • Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7
  • Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2
  • Apple iPad 10 Pro (for editing with Lightroom)

Lumix G9 – Currently my favorite camera in most situations: it’s fast and with an excellent stabilization of up to 2 seconds handheld, so I don’t need a tripod in metro stations.

Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 – There are not many wide-angle zooms for MFT cameras. This has a comparatively high light intensity with high quality.

Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 – Bright and of the highest optical quality.

Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 – This is my favorite lens for street photography. Small and easy to use.

Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 – An excellent portrait lens with excellent bokeh.

Apple iPad 10 Pro (for editing with Lightroom) – Ideal for editing photos on the go and I can still use it on the plane.
