My name is Ryan Sullivan.  I am a Seattle based photographer concentrating on street photography work.  I started taking photographs with my second hand Canon XSi back in 2010 while living in New York City. I took photos as a way to share with people back home what the city was visually like.

I like street photography due to the varied nature and all it costs is time! The idea of documenting the daily life of a city or place interests me in the long term; while the uniqueness of each situation and subject draws me back in the short term.

I’ve bought and sold many cameras over the years; and tried different formats, systems, and photography genres. At the end of the day, street is the style I keep coming back to. I never take more than one camera with one lens when I go out.

My primary cameras are a Nikon D810 and a black Fujifilm X100F. The Fujifilm X100F is my go-to camera for street photography due to its compact size and 35mm equivalent lens. The Nikon D810 is the workhorse that I use with anything and everything where the Fuji won’t work.

The Nikon F2 was my high school film camera that still works like a charm. I have Gordy leather straps on them and an Ernest Alexander bag. These have seen me through daily photo walks, living in five different cities, and more than a few hurricanes.

On my Nikon D810, I usually use a Zeiss 28mm f/2 or my Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Milvus. Both are great optically, fully manual, and built like tanks. My lenses range from 14mm to 200mm, but I find I usually stay between 28mm-50mm.

Other cameras I own, that see dust more than the light, include a Pentax 645N, Nikon F100, Horizon 202, FujiFilm GW690II, and a Fuji GX617. As for film, I stick with Kodak Tri-X and Ilford FP4+ almost exclusively. Although, I am a big fan of the CinStill BwXX for 35mm.

Finally, I am currently using a Sony A7S II camera for a cinemagraph project I’ve been working on. I am able to use all of my Nikon glass with the Sony via a metabones adapter.
