Hi, I’m Shane Webber a wedding photographer in Manchester & Cheshire, UK. I started my photography studio just over 10 years ago and absolutely love capturing weddings!

My partner and I run the business. I’m the main photographer whilst Lexi manages the bookings and creates luxury Queensberry albums for our clients. It’s an incredible honour to photograph a wedding as you’re documenting such important family moments that will be treasured forever by the bride and groom.

I’ve been commissioned to photograph over 400 weddings so far and each year continues to get busier. We’re so passionate about providing an amazing service and delivering images that we know our couples will love.

My photography style is contemporary with clean and bright editing. On the wedding day, I like to combine natural moments with beautiful portraits. This gives a great mixture of photographs to the album.

I’ve used Canon equipment since starting our photography business. The colours and skin tones are just amazing – which is so important as a wedding photographer as you always want the bride to look her absolute best.

Canon L-Series lenses are super sharp and excellent in low light which comes in handy as many of the wedding venues in Manchester & Cheshire are quite dark.

Once the pandemic is over I’ll be upgrading to the new Canon mirrorless cameras which will be an exciting change!

Cameras

Canon 5D Mark IV x2 – These are excellent for shooting weddings. I previously used two Canon 5D Mark III cameras and the image quality at ISO 6400 is much better on the 5D IV’s so the upgrade was definitely worth it. I still keep a spare Canon 5D III in the bag as a third backup camera.

Lenses

I love the sharpness of prime lenses and of course the ability to shoot with wider apertures, such as f/1.4 or f/2.0, when the light is poor or to get beautiful bokeh.

For the majority of the wedding day I shoot with a 35mm and 85mm combo. Then I have the 24mm for when a wider angle is needed and I love the 50mm focal length for bridal preparation. I also keep the 24-70mm zoom lens in the bag as this is a great all-rounder.

Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM – An amazing lens and this is my go-to lens for photographing the party.

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM – Super sharp and a must-have for wedding photographers! I rarely use it wide open, but it’s nice to have the option of shooting at f1.4 if needed. Usually, I’ll use the lens at f/2.0, f/2.8 or f/4.0 depending on the number of people in the image.

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art – My only Sigma lens. I previously owned the Canon 50mm f/1.2 but found the focusing to be too unreliable. The Sigma locks focus much better, especially when the subject is further away.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM – A truly beautiful lens, particularly for portraits. The depth of field is amazing. Yes it’s slow at focusing, but totally worth it!

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM – I have this lens in my camera bag purely for macro shots of wedding bands and engagement rings.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM – An excellent multi-purpose lens. Sometimes you don’t know what the environment will be like and so attaching this gives you flexibility whilst also being able to shoot at f/2.8. I also photograph luxury private events so this is the perfect lens for a discreet one-camera setup.

Flashes & Triggers

Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT Flashgun x4 – I have four of these flashes so that I can shoot with either four off-camera flashes or two on-camera flashes depending on the lighting situation.

When shooting on-camera I will always diffuse the light, either with a Stofen Diffuser, a Magmod MagSphere or MagBounce. I also have an Orbis ring light which is fantastic for hand held off-camera flash and making skin look beautiful.

I’ve got three triggers which are the Yongnuo YN-E3-RT II For Canon. A number of Magmod gels are in the bag too for when warmer or cooler flash lighting is needed.

Hardware & Software

Apple MacBook Pro 13” – Excellent for photo editing on the go. When editing at home I always use my Apple 27” iMac for the larger screen.

SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 2 TB and LaCie Rugged USB-C 4TB hard drives. The speed of the SSD is amazing for quick image transfers.

Adobe Creative Cloud for editing and Photo Mechanic for culling.

Miscellaneous

DJI Mavic 2 Pro – For the occasional drone shot. The Hasselblad camera on it is fantastic and the compact size is ideal for travel.

Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones – I always have music playing when working so these headphones are used when travelling to photograph destination weddings.

Hoodman HoodLoupe – For bright sunny days.

Anker Power Bank for charging devices whilst at weddings.

RayBan folding wayfarer sunglasses that fold away neatly in my camera bag in the protective case.
