Carlos Lance
Hello! My name is Carlos Lance and I am passionate about fashion and social photography. I specialize in wedding photography, but I started doing documentaries for a magazine called Viajar.
I chose weddings because they allow me to combine storytelling and travelling – my two passions.
When I was little I already took pictures of my toys with a disposable camera, and at the age of 17, I started my studies.
One of the things I enjoy most is analogue photography, and even if I do not carry all my equipment with me to every wedding, I try to take at least my Pentax67 with a 160/400 Kodak film.
Cameras
Canon R5 – This camera changed the way I worked entirely. Its viewfinder allows you to nail every picture. It is a fast camera that turns out to be great for fashion shoots thanks to its 45mp.
Canon 5d Mark IV – It comes with me to every wedding as a backup camera. I am very satisfied with it. The quality of its pictures is amazing and I hope it lasts me for a number of years.
Canon 1V – This analogue camera is always by my side. Its EF mount allows me to use every Canon lens I own. I just love it.
Leica C1 – This automatic analogue camera is a blast. I usually use it in situations I want to capture but do not have much time to measure the amount of light.
Polaroid SX-70 – In my opinion, this is the best Polaroid available because of its prism viewfinder and autofocus.
Lenses
Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro – This is my go-to lens for details. One of its advantages is its weight. Extremely versatile.
Canon 85mm f/1.2 L – This usually goes with my backup camera during the ceremony. I also use this for portraits. I love how luminous and sharp it is.
Canon 24mm TS- f/3.5L – Although originally made for architecture, this lens will always have a place in my bag. The effect you can achieve is simply magical. As it is entirely manual, I normally use it in open pictures when I have the time to play with its settings.
Canon 35mm f/1.4 L – One of my favourite lenses. I could shoot an entire wedding with it. Great quality and sharpness.
Canon 17-40mm f/4 L – For group pictures, general photos of the banquet, dance time…
Lights/Triggers
Profoto A1 X2 – I consider myself to be a photographer that uses natural light. I am always looking for the best spot. But when there simply isn’t enough light, these flashes help me to create it. I use them during dancing and party time.
Hardware & Software
Macbook Pro 16″ – It is always in my backpack so I can download all the content in my cameras and make a backup copy.
SSD 512GB Sandisk – I use this for the backup copies I make on the day of the event. Very practical and does not take any room.
Final Words
Be yourself and take lots of photos.
