Jake Virus
My name is Jake Virus, and yes, that is really my last name. I consider myself to be your average everyday photographer.
My goal is to motivate people to step out of their comfort zone and go see all the beauty that surrounds us!
That could be a short walk, road trip, international travel, or wherever whatever inspires you.
I’ve been into photography for four years now, and I’m very grateful to have found such a wonderful and joyful hobby.
As an outdoor enthusiast, most of my photography is landscape, travel, and wildlife. Since I’m already out enjoying it, I might as well capture it to share with everyone.
As I am constantly adventuring, exploring, and traveling, I don’t have the space or the means to carry a bunch of gear with me.
To keep my camera bag light and ready to go, I pack, as the Jungle Book says, only “the simple bear necessities” a camera body, two lenses, and my tripod.
Sony A7 III – hands down, this is one of the best camera bodies I’ve used. It is lightweight, compact, and user-friendly.
Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS – my go-to lens. When working with Winter Park Resort Marketing, capturing photos and videos, this was the lens I always used.
It has the range to shoot up close but also the power to zoom in from a distance. It produces crisp, clean photos!
Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM – this thing is a beast, especially when you’re on a budget. It’s great for shooting wildlife and detailed images in the distance.
Torjim 67″ Camera Tripod Stand – after years of using a very cheap and not-so-sturdy tripod, I finally upgraded to this one last year. It’s still reasonably priced, lightweight, and adjustable for us tall folk out there.
Besnfoto Camera Backpack – this is durable and waterproof with a rolltop. For those with minimal equipment like me, this is your dream bag.
It has an easy-access side zipper to your camera, plus a laptop pouch and space for additional camera supplies, snacks, water, and clothing. It even fits underneath airplane seats, so you can use it as your personal carry-on item.
Seagate 2TB Portable Hard Drive – for storing all my photos.
Adobe Lightroom – for editing.
Photography can be intimidating. Your thoughts may run to which camera do I choose?
What does aperture mean? Why do other photographers have so much gear?
Rest easy; we all started somewhere. As long as you’re enjoying our beautiful planet and having fun with your photography, you’re succeeding.
As an aspiring photographer, my dream of connecting others to nature cannot be reached without your help, so why not visit my website to view my latest adventures?
Yes, prints are for sale.
