I have this lens. I never categorise lenses, I use them for whatever I decide to use them for. The so called portrait lens of around 80mm maybe a very good focal length for that purpose but it can be used for anything. I don’t understand why you say that this 75mm lens is for fun casual shooting?
I’m an ex professional commercial photographer and now an enthusiastic landscape and nature photographer and this lens finds many applications in these areas. It fits in perfectly between my 16-35 and my 100-400. I agree about the bokeh, it’s spot on. As for sharpness I don’t obsess about it, I find F8-F11 to be optimal and sharp enough. As always it depends on the viewing distance of your final image, be it on screen or in print. Thanks for your review…
