I do not care about eye focus at all unless a tree or a rock formation has them. Just fast focus for people, not their eyes. Pictures of rock climbers, people during outdoor activities, landscapes, especially at night, stars, etc. Some videos of the same activities. I cannot afford the Z7 and 24 pixels are fine. To I have read that the Z6ii is better for night images than the Z7. So would you recommend this camera for what I described?
Thanks for your time

I’ve now moved to the Nikon Z 6 II from Fuji XT-3 and I’m loving this camera, the handling is lovely and the output most importantly is premium quality images. So glad I picked my first Nikon for my move back to full frame. I shot canon 5D II before getting tired of the weight and went to Fuji. I shoot portrait and lifestyle (professionally), and love to travel. The Z 6 II and the astonishing quality glass with it are incredible value, I’m so happy.

On similar footing, my Canon Eos R got replaced by Nikon Z5. Don’t get me wrong, the Eos R was fantastic for the time being I’ve spent with that camera especially for low light stage events. However, the sound of the mechanical shutter is 10 steps backward compare to the finesse factor of the Z5. In effect, you don’t get the infamous death stare during quiet passages. Yes, I’ve tried all sorts of shutter on board and my vote still went to the Z5. To add to my piece, silent shutter is not for me due to banding issue in artificial lighting. I’ll be interested though what global shutter may do in future iteration of mirrorless camera technology. In the meantime, I have not tried the Eos R6 yet, but definitely Nikon Z6 II for aspirants looking for best bang for the buck out there. Great review pal. Kind regards.

I have quite a few Nikon lenses and would love to move to a mirrorless camera system where I can use them. I mainly shoot local scenes and hope to get into street photography. Visiting local events, so focusing quickly is going to be important. Your review has moved me towards a purchase of the Nikon Z6ii. Thank you for your review which is inspirational.

It’s great to hear your thoughts on real-world improvement, given your long association with Nikon product.

I’m very much looking forward to my 6ii arriving tomorrow, and experiencing the usability improvements over my now venerable D800. I can’t lie, I ummed and erred a lot over whether to pick a 6ii or a 7ii – but in the end decided to put what money I saved in the body (and file sizes, and time) into some Z-mount glass instead.

If anyone has any questions at all, please leave them as a comment and I’ll get back to you. Patrick
