I think there would be an opportunity to lift the A9iii to 36MP which wouldn’t encroach too much, Or potentially make the A9iii a low-light king.

I find the second hand prices if the A9ii surprisingly high too, perhaps simply because it’s a current model. Since the original A9 is 99% the same spec that camera is an absolute bargain second hand. I have two and am constantly amazed by them! The A9ii was an extremely disappointing upgrade IMO, worth only about 10% more, rather than the 70-80% it currently fetches. I feel like Sony should make a mkIII and push the sensor scanning way higher than the A1 because of the lower resolution. Many see that as encroaching on the A1’s market, but I disagree.
