Erin Fraser

I’m Erin Fraser, a fine art, wedding, and portrait photographer based out of Vancouver, Canada. I shoot weddings locally in the Vancouver area, over the border in Washington state, or basically anywhere I have the opportunity to travel!
I try to draw out my subject’s personality and compose each shot using creative light. I prefer a darker edit—it’s just more my style. Nine times out of ten, I’ll purposely underexpose photos, mainly because I shoot for a specific edit. I really look for the movement in a photo, so I try to create that in each image.
I started learning photography with the Nikon F3, and lots of time spent in a dark room. I eventually moved to digital, and that’s where I’ll be staying, because I like to shoot on continuous. I should also join Overshooters Anonymous (is that a thing?)
I shoot with two Nikon D750 cameras, and mostly Nikon prime lenses. I have a soft spot for that Sigma Art 35mm
, but only because mine hasn’t had any of the focus issues yet (knock on wood)! I am obsessed with the Nikon D750
, it blows my mind.
When I pack my bag for a wedding, it includes:
Lowepro Pro Runner BP 350 AW II—This bag is my saviour! It’s gross, it’s filthy, I take it everywhere, throw it around, it’s indestructible.
(2) Nikon D750s—This camera is permanently attached to my hand. The low light capabilities are insane. I love everything about this camera.
Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4DG—I know this bad boy gets a bum rap because of its focusing issues, but so far it has been a workhorse for me. This thing is on my camera for the majority of my wedding shots. I love how creamy the images look straight out of the camera. If it ever dies on me, I’ll be losing a piece of my soul.
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G—This lens is eh. I use it for ceremonies mostly, so I’m not all up in my bride and groom’s grill, and don’t fully piss off guests. I don’t love the weird contrast of this lens and fully intend on trading it in for the Nikon 58mm f/1.4 in the near future.
Nikon 85mm f/1.4D—I love this lens for the bokeh. I use it mostly for bridal boudoir.
Nikon Speedlight SB-800—I’m not a huge flash user, but this guy gets the job done when I need it.
Neewer 6″ Optical Glass Triple Triangular Prism—I’ve been playing with reflecting in shots lately, I use it mostly for bridal portraits to create visual interest.
Hello London Dual Camera Strap—I am obsessed with this strap and I get compliments from guests at every wedding on this thing. It is so functional and looks super cool.
SanDisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/S 64 GB cards—I shoot RAW dual slots and I never miss a beat with the speed of these cards!
My passport!
Other contents of my bag include:
Hair elastics, bobby pins, Tylenol, Tums, chapstick, lip gloss, MAC powder, Kleenex, a Nalgeen water bottle, band-aids, hand sanitizer, glasses, Cliff bars, and Grabber hand warmers (I’m high maintenance.)
